DaimlerChrysler announced in Detroit that it will introduce the Smart on the U.S. market in 2008. Smart will be run through a distribution agreement with United Auto Group. Dave Schembri, who had been running Smart for Mercedes-Benz North America before the automaker disbanded the unit, will head of the unit for United Auto Group.

Early rumors indicate the next smart fortwo will feature more streamlined headlights. The headlights might be a little more streamlined, but the overall shape and size seem to be the same.
