The all-new 2011 Ford Explorer SUV was unveiled today and will go on sale in the U.S. at the end of the year with pricing start at $27,995. The new Ford Explorer switched from a heavy body-on-frame to the same unibody structure with independent from and rear suspension used on the Ford Taurus sedan and Flex crossover. Ford’s SUV will be offered with a 3.5-liter V6 engine delivering an estimated 290HP, and 20 percent better fuel economy.

As an option the next Ford Explorer can be equipped with a new 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder EcoBoost petrol producing a projected 237HP at 5,500 rpm and 250 lb.-ft. of torque from 1,700 rpm. Both engines are hooked up to a six-speed automatic transmission. The four-cylinder Ecoboost is offered only in front-wheel drive configuration while the V6 model can be equipped optionally with a new, intelligent all-wheel-drive system developed with formerly Ford-owned Land Rover.

As we know, leaner and longer than the current model, the next Hyundai Elantra made its world premiere at the Busan motorshow in South Korea in April 2010 and will go on sale as the Avante MD in its home market before the end of the year. The new Elantra will be offered with a new 140-horsepower 1.6-liter 4-cylinder engine with direct injection technology.

Look at the first official photos of the all-new Peugeot 508. The new mid-size 508 designed to replace the 407 and the larger 607 models. 2011 Peugeot 508 will have its debut at the Paris Motor Show at the end of September, and go on sale early next year.

Possible, buyers should expect a similar engine lineup to the Citroen C5, upon which the 508 is based off, including 1.6-liter turbocharged petrols and a variety of four- and six-cylinder diesel engines. Peugeot will offer a hybrid variant combining an internal combustion engine driving the front wheels with an electric motor powering the rear wheels.

The first photos of the next generation Quest minivan were published today by Nissan. The Nissan’s full-size people carrier will make its world debut at the upcoming 2010 Los Angeles Auto Show.

Nissan is still keeping details on the new Quest minivan under wraps, but it is believed that the 2011 Nissan Quest with sliding rear-doors will be powered by Nissan’s venerable 3.7-liter V6 engine.

The camouflaged 2012 Hyundai Accent hatchback was caught in a parking lot somewhere in South Korea. As we see, this is almost certainly the five-door hatchback version of the new Verna/Accent that debuted at the Beijing Motor Show in April. The wheels are the same as the ones we saw on the Verna and the side crease extends ahead of the door cut-line which differs from the Elantra that debuted a week later at the Busan show in South Korea.

Ford has shared video of a camouflaged 2011 Explorer. The Ford Explorer’s Program Manager, Julie Levine, said how the new Explorer is being put to the test in various on and off-road tests. The 2011 Explorer will go on sale in the United States later this year.

The 2011 Ford Explorer will be offered with the new 2.0-liter Ecoboost turbocharged four-pot and a 3.5-liter V6 engine in both naturally aspirated and twin-turbocharged versions.
