VW Scirocco R

Look at the first official photos of the high-performance ‘R’ version of the VW’s Scirocco. The new VW Scirocco R is powered by a new version of the Golf GTI V’s 2.0-liter engine boasting a higher pressure turbocharger, that boost output to 265HP.

The 265HP 2.0 TSI is mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox and optionally, to a twin-clutch DSG semi-automatic transmission.

The Scirocco R is not equipped with an all-wheel drive system as VW preferred to retain the coupe’s front wheel drive layout. It helps drop the Scirocco’s weight to 1,330 kg.

The Scirocco R starts up to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and reaches an electronically limited top speed of 250km/h or 155mph.

The bodykit consists of a chunkier front bumper that houses larger air vents as well as LED daytime running lights, side skirts, new grille, roof spoiler, restyled rear bumper and smoked tail lights. The VW Scirocco R runs on all-new 18-inch five-spoke rims.

The new VW Scirocco R will arrive to European showrooms in fall 2009. Volkswagen has no plans to import the sports coupe in the country.

  1. This car is one of the best cars i ever seen in my life, i am not a fan of sport cars, inclusive of Lamborghini, Porche and the list goes on and on and on, but this one is the best any manufacture has ever come with.
