Toyota has unveiled its brand new Yaris which will be available later this year. The revamped car, based on the model which was first designed in 1999, is loaded with modern technology.
The designers have tried to keep to the original concept of the design and the car is only is 100mm longer than the previous Yaris. By doing this Toyota has ensured that the new Yaris remains one of the most compact models in its class. The Yaris is already known for its agility and the manufacturers seem to want to cement this reputation.
The overall width of the car remains unchanged, although the height has been reduced. By reducing the height the company have lowered the centre of gravity, giving the car a sportier feel. Like other models Toyota are keen that the inside seems larger than the exterior. The optional add-on of a panoramic roof helps to create this illusion.
The new high-spec Toyota Touch & Go system, standard on all but the basic model, features Bluetooth, reversing camera and multimedia controls.
The new car will be available with a choice of three engines; a petrol 1.0-litre, a petrol 1.33-litre, and a 1.4-litre diesel.
A choice of four trim levels will be available, ranging from the basic T2 to the more expensive TR, SR and T Spirit. It has been predicted that the TR model will be the most sought after. This version comes with 15-inch alloy wheels, air conditioning and Vehicle Stability Control (VSC).
The most expensive version, the T Spirit, will have add-on extras like a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, automatic headlights and wipers and smart entry and start.
The Toyota Yaris remains a popular car and the reputation of the older model remains strong. The car has won several awards and is well known for being economical. The previous version of the model is still popular and used versions are extremely sought after on the used car market.
