Mercedes Recalling 136,000 M-Class SUVs

A defect associated with the cruise control system has prompted a U.S. recall of 136,751 units of the Mercedes-Benz M-Class and M-Class AMG SUVs from the 2000-2004MY. In a filing to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Mercedes-Benz said it has determined that under certain circumstances, use of the brake pedal may not automatically disengage the cruise control system.

2012 Jaguar XF Facelift

Here are the first spy shots of the heavy camouflaged mule of the facelifted Jaguar XF that will receive its world premiere at next month’s New York Auto Show.

The facelift XF will receive a makeover that includes a new front fascia with new lights, a redesigned front grille and reshaped bumper, which oddly enough, bring it closer to the original C-XF Concept that previewed the car. The 2012 Jaguar XF will also benefit from tweaks to the interior and the overall quality, the introduction of new tech systems and an upgraded suspension for improved ride and handling.

Nissan lifted the sheets off the revised GT-R that recently went on sale as a 2012MY in North America and as a 2011MY in the rest of the world. Key changes over the previous model include a 45HP bump in output to 530HP, plus a series of aero and chassis tweaks.

Nissan’s team managed to shave more than two seconds off the 2011MYs time of 7:26.4, dropping it to 7:24.22, allegedly in less than ideal conditions. You’ll have to skip to about 3:20 into the clip for the driving to begin.

BMW launched a special “M3 Tiger Edition” for Chinese market. It appears that limited production coupe model was well received in China so BMW decided to create yet another special M3, this time called the Matte Edition.

The new M3 special is all about colors with buyers having a choice of two unique exterior finishes, gunmetal grey or black. In both cases the bespoke color is created by combining a metallic finish with a silky matte clear coat. Other tweaks include the black chrome side air intakes and exhaust tail pipes, the red brake calipers and the lightweight 19-inch high-gloss alloy wheels.

Jaguar has issued a recall of 6,085 2010 XF and XK models built between June, 2009 and March, 2010 to repair power steering hoses that could corrode and start to leak. The hoses it used on the affected cars have a zinc-nickel plating that doesn’t meet their corrosion resistance requirements.

AMG, Mercedes-Benz division, has unveiled a high-performance version of its new C-Class Coupe. The V8 powerplant in the 2012 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Coupe will be offered in two states of tune. The basic engine churns out 457HP in EU-spec, and 451HP and 443 lb-ft in US-trim, for a 0 to 100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds (0-60mph in 4.4 sec) and an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155mph).
