Volkswagen GTI W12 concept

Volkswagen revealed the GTI W12 concept ??? an high-performance concept version of its GTI hatchback. Featuring a 12-cylinder, 6.0 liter engine, the Volkswagen GTI W12 can hit 60 mph in just 3.7 seconds.

Delivering 650 hp and 553 pound feet of torque, this GTI concept uses the same powerplant found in the Bentley Continental, Audi A8, Volkswagen Phaeton, and Touareg. The engine is based on two narrow-angle VR6 engines joined at the crank.

The car features extensive body modifications for increased aerodynamics and rides on 19-inch wheels. Volkswagen says the GTI W12 can hit a top speed of 202 mph.

  1. You might conclude that it looks heavy on its front but this car is not front heavy because the engine is in the middle, in addition to its engineered VW strut mount for an excellent suspension system that make sure that the car will not feel the weight of the engine… It is also rear wheel drive and thus must handle like a dream. I really wish this car would go into production, as it would shatter all previously held stereotypes about VW…

  2. The car must handle like it’s on rails. I love the looks and wheels on the picture. Where’s the AWD version? 😉

Just watched a Top Gear test on this car. Even with Stig driving it, the overall time was very slow because the car is incredibly hard to keep from spinning out. Sweet looking ride, but TG’s advice is that if you want a slow Golf, just buy the Golf.

  4. Very well said Rob. I woukd have to agree its a beauty to look at and admire but this car cannot possibly deliver these horses effectively without the ver least an AWD system. … that been said… where do i sign up… hehe… LOVE IT!!!
