Nissan introduced the 2008 Altima coupe in Los Angeles. The new Altima coupe will go on market in middle 2007. The Altima Coupe rides on a 105.3-inch wheelbase, a full 4 inches shorter than the Sedan. Overall length is 182.5 inches ??“ 7.1 inches less than the Sedan. The Coupe also has a lower profile ??“ at 55.3 inches it is 2.5 inches shorter than the Sedan. In terms of major body panels, the two cars share only a common hood, with all other panels and lights unique to the coupe.

The new Altima Coupe is offered with a choice of two engines . The 3.5-liter 24-valve DOHC V6 is the “next generation” version of the VQ-series V6 offering 270 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. Also available with the new Altima Coupe is a 2.5-liter DOHC 16-valve QR25 inline 4-cylinder, producing 175 horsepower and 180 lb-ft of torque. Altima funs can chose between a CVT transmission and a 6-speed manual.

GM unveiled the 2008 Saturn Vue, a compact five-door crossover based on the european Opel Antara. The 2008 Vue will be available in XE, XR and Red Line trim levels. Will offer a wide range of powertrains, including a more powerful four-cylinder engine, and two V-6 choices mated to six-speed automatic transmissions. Five-speed manual transmission will be available later. All-wheel drive is available with both V-6 engines.

The XE FWD and Vue Green Line models are equipped with the 2.4L Ecotec with variable valve timing. It produces 164 horsepower (122 kW) at 6,300 rpm* and 160 lb.-ft. (221 Nm) of torque at 4,500 rpm. All-wheel-drive Vue XE models come equipped with a 3.5L V-6 engine, delivering 215 horsepower (260 kW) at 5,900 rpm and 220 lb.-ft. (304 Nm) of torque at 2,800 rpm. Vue XR and Vue Red Line, are powered by GM??™s 60-degree dual overhead cam 3.6L V-6 VVT that delivers 250 horsepower (186 kW) at 6,500 rpm and 243 lb.-ft. (329 Nm) of torque at 4,400 rpm.

Ford unveiled the Mustang Giugiaro concept ??” a one-off design study by Fabrizio Giugiaro.

The Mustang by Giugiaro appears more compact than the production car, thanks to a reduction of the rear overhang and a signature Giugiaro ???trick??? of tapering the angles on the car to the limit of its mechanical outlines. The vibrant orange concept is wider than the production version. The Giugiaros added 30 millimeters to the front, gradually expanding the width by a full 80 millimeters toward the rear.

The 500 horsepower car features a single curved glass panel that bridges the windshield and rear window, serving as the concept??™s roof. Produced by Solutia of Detroit, the panel is made from a special type of crystal that filters out 100 percent of UVA rays while providing unfettered vista views. The car’s doors open vertically, with hinges at the base of the upright A-pillar.

Russian billionaire Suleiman Kerimov was in critical condition this weekend after crashing his black Ferrari Enzo in Nice on the French Riviera. The car split in half after striking a tree, and subsequently burst into flames. His passenger, russian TV celebrity Tina Kandelaki (married 😉 ), without physical injuries.

The BMW X6 is believed to be a four-door crossover-coupe with a sloped roofline and sporty handling. The BMW X6 is likely still two years away from showrooms.

DaimlerChrysler released official sketches of the Jeep Trailhawk and Chrysler Nassau concepts. New concepts will be shown in Detroit in January 2007.

The Chrysler Nassau concept is a four-door, four-passenger luxury coupe. The Jeep Trailhawk “merges the spectrum of the Jeep brand by combining the core features of the Jeep Wrangler with the sophistication of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.” It is based on the all-new 2007 Wrangler architecture.

Volkswagen unveiled the Neeza concept at the Auto China 2006 show. The VW reports the concept as a “crossover of a coupe and a station wagon.” The concept’s name was derived from “Ne-zha”. Ne-zha is a famous figure from Chinese history. Ne-zha was a small guy with magic weapons who fought against evil spirits. “His unequalled will, his youthful and foresighted spirit and courage reflect the idea hidden behind the character and the name of the concept,” VW says.
