Honda recalling three of its models globally in order to repair three unrelated problems. The bulk of the recall campaign concerns the Fit/Jazz subcompact: 960,000 cars built between 2005 and 2009 and sold mainly in Asian countries are recalled to fix malfunctioning power window switches.
Honda also intends to recall 26,000 units of its CR-Z hybrid sports coupe, 5,626 of which have been sold in the US, due to a problem with the engine control unit.
Honda also said that it would recall 80,111 examples of its 2006 MY CR-V small SUV sold in the US in order to replace the power-window master switch as it can allow moisture from interior cleaners to gather and the accumulated residue may degrade the electronics and even cause a fire.
No accidents have been reported due to the defects, a Honda spokesman in Tokyo said. The spokesman said the company was not disclosing the cost of the global recall.
