But John Wayland, 47 years old, is changing that, and has become something of a hero to a small group of hot rodders dedicated to humiliating gasoline-powered cars. Wayland???s ???White Zombie,??? an electrified Datsun, can go from a standing start to 109 miles an hour in 11.9 seconds, making it one of the fastest street-legal cars in the nation.

The facelifted Saab 9-3 will be arriving in US dealerships in September. The 9-3 lineup will start with the 2.0T Sport Sedan at $28,385 while the Aero V6 will cost at least $35,365. The four and six cylinder 9-3 convertibles run $39,710 and $45,665. The new features include rain sensing wipers, OnStar, XM radio and remote top opening for the Saab 9-3 convertible.

KGP Photography guys was caught a next VW Rabbit (Euro Golf) in testing. A new, stronger character line can be seen spanning the Rabbit’s flank, and the door handles no longer intersect said crease. The front and rear of the car are pretty well covered, but the general shape doesn’t look very different than the Rabbit we already know and love. Powertrains are likely to remain largely unchanged, with a Euro-style range of petrol and diesel engines.

While no official date has been given for new Golf-Rabbit, the model is expected in European showrooms in 2008. American fans won???t see the car until 2009 or 2010. This makes a degree of sense given that the current Mark V model has been on sale abroad since 2003, but only on offer (as the VW Rabbit) in the U.S. since last summer.

Look at the front end of the new Subaru Outback Sport. As you note, it has a different grille with a chrome strip at the top, thinner chrome sides and an elongated drop in the bottom section of the grille. Much like the STi, but with a different mesh-patterned insert. It also sports the new front fascia, over-fenders and restyled rockers of previous Outbacks in a contrasting silver color. The two-tone look is a bit debatable, making the car look like a mismatched mule rather than a production model, but the overall package is tasteful.

2009 Infiniti FX To Debut In Geneva 2008

The Infiniti FX series SUV will be all-new for 2009 and will make its debut at the Geneva Autoshow ’08. Mark Igo, vice president of Infiniti announced it at today’s G37 press launch.

It was only a matter of time before something escaped from Nissan HQ as Nissan trademarked the name, FX37 earlier this year along with “Infiniti G37” and “Infiniti M37”. The 3.7L engine was quite speculated as the recently released Infiniti G37 Coupe also has the same 3.7L engine. Along with the Infiniti FX, the M will most probably carry the same 3.7L engine.

Sportec SP580 Porsche 911 Turbo

Sportec, Switzerland company, has released its new version for the Porsche 911 Turbo, called SP580. The new SP580 include a range of power mods, aerodynamic enhancements, plus chassis and suspension tuning. Sportec SP580 lifts output to 580hp, resulting in a 0-100km/h time of just 3.4 seconds and a top speed of 338km/h or 210mph.

The engine conversion kits come in four different flavors, offering power upgrades ranging from 530hp in the ???Stage 1??? kit to 580hp and 765Nm of torque for the ???Stage 4??? range topper. For its most powerful upgrade, engineers reprogrammed the car???s ECU.

To further improve dynamics, the developers added a high-performance braking system with six-piston callipers and brake discs ranging from 350 to 380mm. A sports suspension kit is then fitted, including firmer springs and new shock absorbers. Visually, the Sportec 911 Turbo remains much the same as the original.

2008 Toyota Sequoia

Photohunters caught the 2008 Toyota Sequoia in testing on public roads. The test mule get heavily camouflage, but we can see most noteworthy is the switch to an independent rear suspension, which replaces the solid live axle setup in the current Sequoia.

An independent suspension offers the promise of a better ride, plus improved interior packaging, which translates to a more usable third-row seat for both passengers and cargo. Previous spy video indicates the rear seat is a power-folding 60/40-split bench.
On the SUV’s front bumper you can see sensor for adaptive cruise control.

The new Sequoia is expected to get both 4.7-liter and 5.7-liter V8s and either five- or six-speed automatic transmissions.
