Meet new Volvo’s sedan! Swedish carmaker today unveiled the new Volvo S40 sedan, which features a revised interior and exterior. Volvo will offer seven gasoline and three diesel engines. For the 2008 model year, the S40 T5 gets a bump to 230 horsepower ??? a 10 hp increase.

Volvo’s gasoline engine line include: 1.6 100 hp, 1.8 125 hp, 1.8F 125 hp (Flexifuel), 2.0 145 hp, 2.4 140 hp, and 2.4i 170 hp. Diesel line include: 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and D5 180 hp.

Now optional on the new S40 are Active Bi-Xenon headlamps that swivel the light beam in the direction of the road when the driver turns the steering wheel. Meanwhile, Emergency Brake Lights flash rapidly when the driver stamps hard on the brake pedal.

Volvo’s design team concentrated its efforts on two areas: the S40’s door sides and the centre stack. The entire lower part of the front door inside panels has been redesigned. The audio system loudspeakers were reshaped to free up space for a new, larger storage compartment with space for an A4 format book, an upright soft drink can or a water bottle lying down.

The new Audi’s prototype was spied on the Nurburgring roads. The 2009 Audi R8 V10 for the V10-powered version of the Audi R8 revealing the styling changes in store Audi’s top R model.

Some reports speculate about Audi using the “RS8” badge, but this seems highly unlikely due to the confusion it would create with respect to the A8 and S8 lines. What’s more, calling the vehicle RS8 would prevent Audi from creating a more powerful version of the S8 at some point in time.

The most likely names, therefore, are R10 and or R8 S ??? similar to TT S.

Look at the spy shot of the new Audi’s SUV, Q7 V12 TDI. The new Q7 was caught in testing on winter roads.

Note especially the front fascia of the SUV, similar to that of the Q7 V12 TDI design study shown in Detroit last January. Also of great interest is the gargantuan set of ceramic brakes squeezed behind those 20-inch wheels.

Hans G. Lehmann’s guys caught a second-generation RS 6 on cold-weather testing.

Under the hood is said to beat a twin-turbocharged V10. While a source close to Fourtitude hinted just weeks ago that this might be a twin turbocharged V8 FSI as with the previous car, the V10 seems the more likely scenario for now. Reliable sources within Audi suggest power in the range of 600-650 HP even though many magazines have reported it at a more conservative 550.

The Chrysler present the new 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee at the 2007 New York Auto Show. The 2008 Grand Cherokee features: the front end features a grille that dips down a bit lower, and the bottom of the headlights have been rounded off to enhance their Jeepishness. The fog lamps have been lowered to improve their effectiveness. Hardcore off-roaders will be pleased to know, however, that the new fascia is compised of two-pieces, the lower of which can be removed when trail-rating your new Grand Cherokee. The taillights out back are also revised.

Underhood the new GC now features no less than five engine options, one of which is an all-new 4.7L V8 that slots in below the 5.7L HEMI V8. The new 4.7L V8 produces 291 horsepower and 322 ft-lbs. of torque. That’s more power and torque than the old 4.7L V8, plus it’s more fuel efficient (though Jeep doesn’t indicate by how much) and flex-fuel capable. Also available is the 3.0L common-rail Diesel V6, 3.7L V6, 5.7L HEMI V8 and 6.1L HEMI V8 in the SRT-8 model.

2007 NISMO 350Z

The 2007 NISMO 350Z, a most hardcore model in Nissan’s 350Z lineup, will arrive in dealerships in July. The addition is the NISMO aerodynamics package that includes a new front fascia with a highly extroverted front chin spoiler, side skirts and a new rear fascia with a diffuser big enough on which to throw a picnic for two. The 350Z also features a specially tuned independant multi-link suspension, big Brembo brakes, a NISMO-tuned exhaust and NISMO gunmetal gray RAYS lightweight 5-spoke forged-alloy wheels wearing Bridgestone Potenzas. The front wheels are 18-inches large while the rears grow to 19-inches. The interior features exclusive black cloth seats with red inserts and red stitching throughout, as well as NISMO white and gray gauges.

While we’ve never been disappointed with Nissan’s VQHR 3.5L V6, which in this case pumps out 306 horsepower and 268 ft-lbs. of torque just like the standard Z, we are a bit disappointed the NISMO isn’t fitted with the new 3.7L version planned for the 2008 Infiniti G37 Coupe. It was probablay a timing thing and the larger V6 will end up in the 350Z soon enough.
