The Silverado and Sierra are offered with three cab styles, three cargo box lengths and several suspensions setups. The Silverado and Sierra light-duty models will be available in the first quarter of 2007. The heavy duty trucks offer more powerful gas and diesel engines. Engines range in size from the 4.3-liter, 195 hp V6, to the 6.0-liter, 367 hp V8.
The Opel Vectra C Wagon will be imported and rebadged as a Saturn. The target is 50,000 units annually, beginning in 2008 or 2009.
The mid-sized wagon will be assembled in Ruesselsheim, Germany, using GM’s front-wheel-drive Epsilon platform.
The Opel Vectra wagon will become the second Opel import in Saturn’s lineup. GM will replace the Saturn Ion with rebadged Opel Astras. The target is 45,000 units annually. The Opel Astra is about the size of a Ford Focus.
The imported Vectra wagon will offer all-wheel drive and a V-6 engine, says Jim Hall, v. p. of industry analysis at AutoPacific Inc. in Southfield, Mich.
The official launch of the new Mercedes-Benz C-Class is expected for the Geneva Motor Show in 2007, but now you can see couple pics.
The base engine will be a direct injection 1.8-liter four, from 150 to 190 horses. The 2.5-liter V-6 will make 210 hp, while a 3.5-liter V-6 makes 270 hp. An AMG 5.4-liter V-8 will be stuffed into a special C-Class, churning out 400-410 hp to compete with the Audi RS4 and the next BMW M3. A 3.0-liter diesel is planned, as is an iDrive-like operating device similar to that found in the new S-Class.
Windingroad.com post new spy shots of car, identified as next Chevrolet Malibu. The grille recalls the 2003 SS Concept and round taillamps peek through the masking in back.) Volkswagen will be unveiling a concept IROC at the Paris Motor Show.
It will be a concept version of a Scirocco-like coupe they are working on. Inside reports suggest it will look like a cross between the Eco-Racer concept with a Concept A roofline on a two-door coupe body. This will be a front engine/FWD coupe and priced starting at a GTI price point of around $24k. While the car has gotten the green light for the European market and will be built at VW’s Portugal facility at the end of 2007, no decision has been made yet whether to sell it here in the U.S. Considering the car will be built in Portugal it could be sold at a better margin here in the U.S. than the GTI which is built in Wolfsburg. Also given the additional costs of reinvestments in the upcoming Golf VI the Golf/Rabbit/GTI is likely to get more expensive for the U.S. market unless currency exchange rates change.
