Chevrolet’s extended range electric vehicle made it on the list because it underperformed in sales while the fact that it is under investigation by the NHTSA for fires related to the car’s lithium-ion batteries is also mentioned.

NHTSA investigating 2003 Infiniti M45

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has launched an investigation concerning Infiniti M45 sedans from the 2003 – 2004 model year. The NHTSA has received 43 complaints about inaccurate fuel gauge readings, and in 26 of these cases, the improperly calibrated fuel gauges have led to instances of engine stalling.

Nissan Recalling 34,000 Sentra Sedans

Nissan recalling near 34,000 2010-2011 model year Sentra sedans because of a battery cable problem that could potentially cause the engines to stall. Nissan explained that the zinc coating applied to the terminal stud bolt may be too thick and as a result, it could lead to a voltage drop the can damage the engine control module.

Toyota Camry and Cadillac CTS get five NHTSA safety rating

The 2012 Toyota Camry and 2012 Cadillac CTS have earned the five-star safety rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. Last year, the 2011 Camry took home four stars in the evaluations. Toyota reminds us that the 2012 Camry is built with high-strength steel to help protect the passenger cell against deflection in the event of an accident, and that the vehicle comes standard with 10 airbags, all of which contribute to the new model’s superior score.

2012 Renault Laguna Coupe

Renault unveiled its facelifted version of the well-known Laguna Coupe. The updated 2012 Laguna Coupe got new LED running lights and 17- or 18-inch alloys and an interior with visible top-stitching on the dashboard. Buyers can choose from the Black Edition, Monaco GP edition, GP 4Control and Initiale trims, and between three gasoline and two diesel engines ranging from 150 to 240 horsepower.
