XC90 will be manufactured in a Chinese factory

Today we have interesting news for Volvo fans. The XC90 crossover will not die, when will be replaced by new facelifted model. However, the XC90 will continue to be assembled in China. CarNewsChina reports that “the XC90 will be manufactured in a new Geely-funded factory in Daqing in Heilongjiang Province” as of December, a 2.5-liter petrol motor is suggested as the sole engine option.

Volvo S60 Performance Concept

Volvo’s Australian division has unveiled the conceptual performance version of its S60 sedan. Based on the Volvo S60 T6 R Design, the S60 Performance Concept utilizes two partnerships within the Volvo family – Polestar and Heico. Polestar fine-tuned the electronic software of the T6 engine increasing output by 24HP to 330-horses and torque by 40Nm to 480Nm.

The Volvo S60 Performance Concept features a lowered sports suspension that includes monotube damping at the rear, 15 per cent stiffer springs and the bushings that are 20 percent stiffer compared with the dynamic chassis.

Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid

Today, Volvo released a full set of photos and additional specs on its Plug-in Hybrid, which will be launched in 2012.

The new model is a world’s first diesel plug-in hybrid, the result of close co-operation between Volvo and Swedish energy supplier Vattenfall.

The Volvo V60 Plug-in Hybrid’s powertrain consists of a five-cylinder 2.4-litre D5 turbo diesel with 215 hp and maximum torque of 440 Nm that drives the front wheels, and a 70HP-strong electric motor that receives its juice from a 12 kWh lithium-ion battery pack and motivates the rear wheels. The car also features a six-speed automatic transmission.

Volvo S60 Concept

The Volvo prepare its new S60 Concept for Detroit’s Auto Show in next month. The Volvo S60 Concept demonstrates that new sedan will ditch the rather conservative duds it currently wears in favor of a new, much more aggressive visual ensemble. Profile views show off a coupe-ish roofline, while pointed headlights extend back onto the fenders and flank a reshaped, more detailed grille up front. The concept’s rear is similarly detailed, with LED taillamps that hide the various signal colors until they are actually illuminated.

Swedish carmaker today unveiled a facelifted V50 wagon for the next model year. Changes include a revised interior and exterior.

Volvo??s gasoline engine 2008 line include: 1.6 100 hp, 1.8 125 hp, 1.8F 125 hp (Flexifuel), 2.0 145 hp, 2.4 140 hp, and 2.4i 170 hp. Diesel line include: 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and D5 180 hp.

Other gasoline engine choices include: 1.6 100 hp, 1.8 125 hp, 1.8F 125 hp (Flexifuel), 2.0 145 hp, 2.4 140 hp, and 2.4i 170 hp. Diesel choices include: 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and D5 180 hp.

One change here is that during the second half of 2007 the D5 engine will also be available with a manual gearbox.

The new black egg-crate grille with its larger Volvo iron mark gives the wagon a sportier look. The new headlamps and the three sculpted lower air intakes are other details that give the new color-coordinated nose an increased impression of solidity.

Meet new Volvo’s sedan! Swedish carmaker today unveiled the new Volvo S40 sedan, which features a revised interior and exterior. Volvo will offer seven gasoline and three diesel engines. For the 2008 model year, the S40 T5 gets a bump to 230 horsepower ?? a 10 hp increase.

Volvo’s gasoline engine line include: 1.6 100 hp, 1.8 125 hp, 1.8F 125 hp (Flexifuel), 2.0 145 hp, 2.4 140 hp, and 2.4i 170 hp. Diesel line include: 1.6D 109 hp, 2.0D 136 hp, and D5 180 hp.

Now optional on the new S40 are Active Bi-Xenon headlamps that swivel the light beam in the direction of the road when the driver turns the steering wheel. Meanwhile, Emergency Brake Lights flash rapidly when the driver stamps hard on the brake pedal.

Volvo’s design team concentrated its efforts on two areas: the S40’s door sides and the centre stack. The entire lower part of the front door inside panels has been redesigned. The audio system loudspeakers were reshaped to free up space for a new, larger storage compartment with space for an A4 format book, an upright soft drink can or a water bottle lying down.

Spy shooter Chris Doane unveiled new Volvo’s prototype. The all-new Cross Country wagon XC70 will arrive as a 2008 model.

The Volvo XC70 takes many of the new S80??s styling features, albeit pumped up with a tougher-looking front end, thanks to its enlarged egg-crate grille. In profile, the XC70 appears to have some bulging fenders, along with those oh-so-trendy side mirror turn signals. Despite the cladding designed to project a much more rakish D-pillar, the rear hatch indeed tapers more gently than the current model.

We can take a first look at the Volvo XC90 SE Sport on next week at London’s British Motor Show. Volvo XC90 Sport SE a new take on the Swedish SUV that applies suspension and appearance mods to give it a more dynamic attitude on-road. The suspension tuning was refined in Great Britain and consists of stiffer shocks and anti-roll bars to give the ute more bite when cornering. In addition, the speed-sensitive power steering is now more responsive. The XC90’s self-leveling system also gets tweaked to complete the suite of handling upgrades.
