Ford has shared video of a camouflaged 2011 Explorer. The Ford Explorer’s Program Manager, Julie Levine, said how the new Explorer is being put to the test in various on and off-road tests. The 2011 Explorer will go on sale in the United States later this year.

The 2011 Ford Explorer will be offered with the new 2.0-liter Ecoboost turbocharged four-pot and a 3.5-liter V6 engine in both naturally aspirated and twin-turbocharged versions.

2011 Ford Mondeo Facelift

The 2011 facelifted version of the Ford Mondeo will be unveiled at the 2010 Moscow International AutoShow in August. The four-door sedan, five-door liftback and estate body styles receive a subtle redesign, new range-topping turbocharged engines and some additional features.

The facelift includes new and slimmer upper grilles combined with a bolder trapezoid lower grille, restyled bonnet profile and new LED daytime running lights. The tail lights now employ LED technology while all body styles receive a new rear deck lid treatment.

Domestic Brands Surpass Imports in Initial Quality for the First Time in IQS History

Domestic auto brands have demonstrated higher initial quality than import brands for the first time, according to the J.D. Power and Associates 2010.

Overall, the industry average for initial quality is 109 problems per 100 vehicles (PP100) in 2010, increasing slightly from 108 PP100 in 2009. However, initial quality for domestic brands as a whole has improved by 4 PP100 in 2010 to an average of 108 PP100 slightly better than the initial quality of import brands, which averages 109 PP100 in 2010.

Honda has pulled the first official photos of its all-new Honda Odyssey eight-seater minivan. The new styling and the 1.6-inches lower roofline give new Odyssey more character and presence over the current model.

The 2011 model is said to be wider over the current 2010 Odyssey and promises to be more functional and roomy with better interior lighting.

New interior features include an available entertainment technology that introduces high-definition connectivity and split-screen viewing.

The 2011 Honda Odyssey will be offered at least with 3.5-liter V6 petrol engine. Honda estimating a fuel economy for new Odyssey of 19 mpg city and 28 mpg highway.

200 Dacia Cars Destroyed

A freight train carrying new Romanian Dacia to France derailed yesterday in Austria. There are 200 new Dacia’s Logan, Sandero and Duster cars were destroyed or damaged (the number of cars damaged is yet unconfirmed, between 100 and 200).

The accident took place at 60 km/h (37 mph). At one point, 10 of the 16 carts of the train came off the rails and rolled over, leaving the others slide for the next 100 meters and subsequently do the same. Initial information points to the brakes, which failed to work properly.

2011 Range Rover

The legendary British automaker has revealed its updated 2011 model year flagship 4×4. Land Rover has introduced of an all-new 4.4-liter turbo diesel engine producing 313HP that replaces the current 3.6-liter with 271HP.

The V8 diesel will twist with a new ZF 8-speed automatic gearbox with paddle shifts. Land Rover claims that with this engine, the luxury 4×4 returns a combined fuel economy of 25.1 mpg US (9.4lt/100km).

VIDEO: Top Gear ix35/Tucson ads

The advertising types at Hyundai have picked up on the cheeky part of Top Gear in an overseas commercial for the ix35 crossover (also known as Tucson in the States). The ads, which apparently air in South Africa, very overtly spoof the BBC program, but with three animals making up the “Top Deer” team. Clarkson, Hammond and May are replaced with a wildebeest, hamster and a turtle. The Stig is replaced with a deer called “The Stag.”
